Clearbook

Terms of Use

Effective 14 September 2026 · Last updated 14 September 2026

These terms cover your use of the Clearbook app. They are short because the app is simple: it is a ledger you keep on your own phone. The parts worth reading closely are what the app is not — not a bank, not an adviser, and not a backup service — and that the only copy of your data is the one you look after.

1. Who you are contracting with

Clearbook is published by Apex Root Solutions LLC, a limited liability company organised under the laws of the State of Delaware, with its registered office in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware, and its principal place of business in Cedar Hill, Dallas County, Texas. "We" and "us" mean that company; "you" means the person using the app. By installing or using Clearbook you accept these terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 13. Clearbook is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children.

3. Your licence to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Clearbook on devices you own or control, for your own purposes. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app, reverse engineer it except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable where you live, or use it to build a competing service.

4. What Clearbook is, and is not

Clearbook is a record-keeping tool. It stores what you enter and what you import, and it does arithmetic on it — balances, budgets, reports — according to rules that are set out in the app under How Clearbook counts money.

It is not a bank, a payment service or a financial institution. Nothing in the app moves money. Recording a transaction, a transfer or a recurring bill changes only the ledger on your phone; it does not pay anyone, and an entry marked as recorded does not mean a bill has been paid.

It is not financial, tax, accounting or legal advice. Budgets, warnings, comparisons and reports are calculations on the data you gave the app. They may be wrong if that data is incomplete, mistyped or imported with the wrong column mapping, and they are not tailored to your circumstances by a professional. Check figures against your bank before relying on them.

It is not a backup service. The app keeps your data on your phone and nowhere else. If the phone is lost, reset, or its storage cleared, or the app is uninstalled, the data is gone unless you have exported a backup and kept it somewhere safe. The app reminds you to do so; making and keeping backups is your responsibility.

5. Your data

Everything you enter stays yours. We do not receive it and claim no rights in it. Our Privacy Policy explains what the app stores and that nothing is transmitted. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and import, for any backup files you make and where you send them, and for any passphrase you set — we cannot recover it.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use the app to break the law, to interfere with anyone else's device, or to attempt to extract or alter the app's code beyond what these terms and the law allow. Statement files you import must be ones you are entitled to use.

7. Changes to the app

We may update, change or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. Because your data is stored only on your phone, discontinuing the app does not remove your data or your ability to export it while the app remains installed. We will keep the backup format readable by the app for as long as it is published.

8. Price

The app's price, if any, is shown in the App Store or Google Play at the time of purchase and is handled by Apple or Google under their terms. There are no subscriptions, in-app purchases or paid services in the app.

9. Termination

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may terminate your licence if you breach these terms. Termination does not affect data on your phone, which you can still delete or export before removing the app.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app's calculations will be correct for your situation, that imported data will be interpreted as you intended, or that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the app — including any loss arising from reliance on a balance, budget or report, from an import mapped incorrectly, from a lost or corrupted backup, or from a forgotten passphrase. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Clearbook in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five United States dollars. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your misuse of the app or your breach of these terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory laws of the country where you live, or of the right to bring proceedings there where such a right cannot be waived.

14. Apple

On Apple platforms, this agreement is between you and us, not with Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for Clearbook. Apple is not responsible for the app or for any claim relating to it, including product liability, any failure to conform to a legal requirement, or a third-party intellectual property claim; any such claim is our responsibility. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a United States embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and are not on a prohibited-parties list.

15. Google Play

On Android, this agreement is between you and us, not with Google. Google is not responsible for the app or for any claim relating to it, and does not provide support for it. Your use of Google Play is governed by Google's own terms.

16. General

These terms are the entire agreement between us about Clearbook. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stands. Our not enforcing something is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them to a successor of the business. Questions go to support@apsoluts.com.
