Clearbook

Support

Write to support@apsoluts.com. A person reads it. Attaching the diagnostics report from Settings → About → Export diagnostics usually saves a round trip: it holds version numbers, row counts and the last error messages, and never your amounts or merchants. Please do not send us your backup file — we do not need it and would rather not hold it.

Where is my data?

In a database inside the app on your phone, and nowhere else. There is no account to sign into on another device. To move to a new phone, export a backup from Settings, copy the file across, and restore it — the same file works on iPhone and Android.

I lost my phone / reinstalled the app and everything is gone

If you exported a backup, install the app, choose Restore a backup on the first screen and pick the file. If you never exported one, the data cannot be recovered: it existed only on that phone. The app reminds you when your last export is more than a month old; the interval is in Settings.

My balance does not match my bank

The balance is the opening balance you entered plus every confirmed transaction dated on or after the opening-balance date. The usual causes of a mismatch are a missing transaction, a transfer recorded as an expense, or an opening balance entered as of the wrong day. Transactions dated before the opening date are kept but do not change the balance, because the opening figure already includes them. How Clearbook counts money in Settings sets out every rule.

The import put the wrong sign on everything

Some banks export spending as positive numbers. On the mapping step turn on Positive numbers are expenses, or choose the separate debit and credit columns if the file has them. An import can be undone as a batch from Transactions → Import history.

I forgot my backup passphrase

It cannot be recovered. The file is encrypted on your phone with a key made from the passphrase, and neither the passphrase nor the file ever reaches us. Use a different backup, or export a fresh one from the app if it is still installed.

Recording a bill did not pay it

Correct — Clearbook is a ledger, not a payment service. Recording a recurring entry writes it into your history so budgets and balances reflect it; paying the bill is something you do with your bank.

Can I change the currency?

Yes, but amounts are relabelled, never converted: 12.34 stays 12.34. Switching to a currency with a different number of decimal places is blocked while you have data, because the stored numbers would change meaning. Start fresh or restore a backup made in that currency instead.
